Our Top Ten Priority Objectives
Reducing the gaps in employment and benefit claimant
rates between the worst performing neighbourhoods and
national averages
Did you know...?
The employment rate in South Tyneside is lower than regional or national levels.
A study in 2007 found that over 30% of children and young people in South Tyneside live in homes where the only income is benefits compared to 21% nationally.
There are currently over 20,000 people claiming a range of benefits in South Tyneside.
These are just some of the reasons why helping more people into jobs and reducing benefit claimants is one of our top ten priorities for South Tyneside.
