Britain in Bloom, the largest horticultural campaign in Europe, involves hundreds of communities each year. It creates lasting environmental improvements for residents, visitors and future generations. Britain in Bloom, "In Bloom", is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

In Bloom

In Bloom involves contributions from the council and community groups and organisations. The campaign also concentrates on the involvement of local communities, the cleanliness of the environment, conservation and recycling.
Judging

The judges visit our towns and villages in the spring and summer, meeting local In Bloom committee groups/friends of the park and hear about events that have taken place.
The towns and villages that are entered are:
- Boldon
- Cleadon
- Harton (new for 2008)
- Hebburn
- Jarrow
- South Shields Coast
- Westoe
- Whitburn

There are many ways you can become involved with Northumbria in Bloom. You can:
- Sponsor the voluntary organisation Northumbria in Bloom who runs the overall competition
- Sponsor a floral feature such as a hanging basket, floral tub or floral bed (the feature will display the sponsor's name)
- Sponsor an event such as litter picking or hanging basket making
